Types of Smoke Damage
- A protein fire is the burning of food. The smoke from this type of fire can get into cracks and crevices making it one of the most difficult to remove and also the one with the worst odor.
- A fuel oil and kerosene smoke damage is the heaviest smoke damage. The smoke covers all contents and flat surfaces with a greasy film that is hard to remove and unhealthy to breathe.
- Gas propane is the lightest of all smoke damages. It affects the structure of a home more than contents and is the easiest to clean. Breathing soot or smoke related gases can be harmful to people with compromised immune systems such as people with allergies, the elderly and young children whose immune system hasn’t fully developed.
